Cheney Hewitt is an Edinburgh-based book cover designer and illustrator, with a wealth of knowledge and experience with traditional and digital medias. While completing her MSc Publishing in 2025, Cheney developed a love for all aspects of book design, and the doors it opened for telling stories without relying on words.
Cheney has worked on a variety of independent and collaborative book cover and illustration projects and has a particular passion for illustrating children’s books. The traditional medias she works with include gouache and watercolour paints, coloured pencil, and linocut, among others.
All of Cheney’s art is her own, and she does not use AI in her design practices. If you would require further information or would like to work with Cheney, please fill in the contact form.

Testimonials
Francesca Barbini, Director at Luna Press Publishing
“Cheney created beautiful lino illustrations for one of our publications. After only one reading of the text, she understood the author's voice completely, producing several pieces of artwork which matched the text beautifully.”
Amy Turnbull, Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator at Luath Press
“I had the pleasure of working with Cheney Hewitt on the book cover design for The Good Daughter, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the result. Cheney's design not only captures the essence of the book's subject matter, but it also perfectly aligns with its market. Her creativity shines through in a beautiful, eye-catching cover that resonates with the target audience. Additionally, Cheney was incredibly receptive to feedback, making the collaborative process smooth and enjoyable. ”
