It all begins with an idea…
Cheney Hewitt is an Edinburgh-based book cover designer and illustrator, with a wealth of knowledge and experience with traditional and digital medias. While completing her MSc Publishing in 2025, Cheney developed a love for all aspects of book design, and the doors it opened for telling stories without relying on words.
Whilst most of her current book cover and illustration projects have been for adult fiction of a variety of genres, Cheney also enjoys illustrating children’s books. The traditional medias she works with include gouache, watercolour and oil paints, coloured pencil, linocut, and ink, among others.
All of Cheney’s concepts and art is her own, and she does not use AI in her design practices. If you would require further information or would like to work with Cheney, please fill in the contact form.
Testimonials
“Cheney created beautiful lino illustrations for one of our publications. After only one reading of the text, she understood the author's voice completely, producing several pieces of artwork which matched the text beautifully.”
